Accra Lions kept their 100 per cent home invincibility visiting Medeama SC since 2021/22 season, beating 1-0 in their match day 18 Ghana Premier League game played at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon Last Saturday.

Lucky Nwafor’s 71st minute penalty was all the bottom club needed to record their third victory of the season at home.

Displaying some fine football skills, both sides sold a great game for the handful of funs who thronged the venue to cheer their side on and Lions enjoyed more applaudes as goalkeeper Daniel Afful stood between them and a goal.

Afful pulled three great saves to deny two strikes from Prince Owusu and another from Richard Dwumah.

Back from the break, Accra Lions kept to their shape but this time around, possesed the ball more and pushing the visitors to be on the defense.

In one of their forays into the goal area of Medeama, winger Ahmed Youssif short across goal came off the hand of a defender in the box which left referee Maxwell Owusu with no option than to point to the penalty spot.

Striker Chinecherem Lucky Nwafor stepped up and scored from the resultant kick, sending goalkeeper Felix Kyei the wrong way for the opener.

The former league winners accepted the challenged and lifted up their play in search of the equaliser but Lions stood their ground to hold onto the lead till the end.

Lions by virtue of the win jumped to 15th on the table with 16 points while Medeama SC stay in 7th with 27 points.
