Component Manager at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ Ghana), Kweku Lartey Obeng, has emphasised that strong legislative and policy frameworks are critical to Ghana’s fight against corruption.

Speaking at a national dialogue organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, he stressed the need to move beyond discussions about corruption to real action.

“Societies can create a culture of integrity and a culture of transparency, which is a fundamental cornerstone of the rule of law. Furthermore, the importance of legislative and policy frameworks cannot be underestimated.

“Strong laws and policies that promote transparency and accountability are fundamental to the rule of law. However, these frameworks must be properly implemented and properly enforced,” he remarked.

Kweku Lartey Obeng also called for a stronger sense of integrity and moral cohesion among communities as part of the fight against corruption.

“Societies can create a culture of integrity and a culture of transparency, which is a fundamental cornerstone of the rule of law.

“CSOs present here, you are equally vital in fighting against corruption. Your efforts in raising awareness, advocating for policy changes, and monitoring public administrations are very valuable,” he noted.
