Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko forward, Charles Taylor, has chided coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum for comments he made after the club’s defeat to Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking on Angel TV, Charles Taylor disagreed with Dr. Ogum’s assertions that Kumasi Asante Kotoko lost the game because the players were fatigued.

In Taylor’s view, the reason outlined by Dr. Ogum was a convenient way of avoiding the issues facing the club.

Charles Taylor stated that Kotoko lost the match because the players are average and not extraordinary.

“Ogum should stop the plenty talk. He should stop talking about fatigue and other things. Were they on assignment in Africa? A team from Kpando has defeated you and you are talking about fatigue. He should know his players are not extraordinary players. They are not special players for him to complain about losing. They are average players,” he said.

On how Kotoko can recover from the defeat, Charles Taylor urged the players to improve their performance and not think that playing for Asante Kotoko is enough to guarantee victories.

Taylor stated that complacency has affected the Asante Kotoko camp and that the players must be advised to work hard and secure victories for the club.

“The players should work hard and recognize that they are playing for a big club like Asante Kotoko. You don’t beat teams with names but with good performance. The boys need to work hard, but it feels like they are getting complacent. They play like they are leading the top. They are too comfortable,” he said on Angel TV.

Kwadwo Obeng Jr. scored as Heart of Lions defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Len Clay Stadium on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
