    Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has called on churches to stop discriminating against secular musicians simply because they do not sing gospel songs.

    Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, Kumchacha argued that not all secular music is “worldly” and that many secular artistes produce meaningful, inspirational songs that align with moral values.

    Kumchacha clarified that the Bible’s definition of “worldly” refers to songs promoting sin (fornication, drugs, violence), not all non-gospel music.

    “We are all in this world. But what the Bible meant by ‘worldly’ is ‘senseless’ music that encourages immorality,” he said.

    He praised legendary highlife musicians like Amakye Dede and KK Kabobo, saying their songs carry wisdom and positive messages.

    “Their music is as good as gospel songs because it inspires and educates. We shouldn’t reject them,” he added.

    He accused some churches of unfairly ostracising secular artistes while accepting others based on personal bias.

    “Because you believe someone sings secular songs, you tag them as ‘worldly’ and reject them. That’s wrong,” he stated.

    Kumchacha’s comments come amid ongoing debates in Ghana’s Christian community about collaborations between gospel and secular artistes and whether churches should support or shun non-gospel music.
