After releasing a cryptic statement that many fans interpret as a covert shot at his longtime rival Shatta Wale, award-winning Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has stirred new internet discussions.

Stonebwoy said that “some people are their own enemies” in a recent post that went viral on social media. Although Stonebwoy did not specify any names in the comment, many fans and industry watchers took it to mean Shatta Wale. Since then, the comment has sparked fresh discussion regarding the two dancehall heavyweights’ long-standing feud.

Despite Stonebwoy’s refusal to elaborate, the comment’s timing and phrasing prompted many to link it to current debates about Shatta Wale’s public scandals, business disputes, and outspoken personality. Stonebwoy’s supporters contend that rather than being a direct criticism, the remark illustrates a larger lesson about self-sabotage and personal accountability. Others, however, maintain that it was a deliberate statement directed directly at his opponent.

Years of conflict, public confrontations, and sporadic appeals for peace have characterized Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale’s relationship. Even while there have been times when it seems like both artists have moved past their disagreements, subtle comments like this one keep igniting rumors that the conflict is still unresolved.

Since then, supporters on both sides have flocked to social media and comment sections to analyze Stonebwoy’s remarks and express differing viewpoints. While some condemned the statement for reviving old scars in an industry that has frequently advocated for togetherness, others applauded him for his maturity and sensitivity.

Shatta Wale has not yet addressed the comment in public. It remains to be seen if this comment will spark other conversations or fade into the background.

For the time being, Stonebwoy’s succinct but direct statement has once again brought attention to one of Ghana’s most talked-about music rivalries, reminding listeners that tensions between the two celebrities might still be simmering in the background.
