he National Democratic Congress (NDC) Victory Concert, scheduled for Sunday, January 5, 2025. This decision was taken following significant backlash from the party’s grassroots and youth supporters.

On Friday, January 3, 2025, Stonebwoy was initially announced as one of the artistes set to perform at the highly anticipated event, meant to celebrate the NDC’s victory in the just-ended general elections. However, the announcement was met with a wave of criticism from party members and supporters.

The hashtag #DropStonebwoy began trending on social media shortly after the announcement, as many NDC supporters voiced their dissatisfaction. Critics argued that Stonebwoy’s inclusion was inappropriate, although specific reasons for the opposition were not publicly detailed.

Responding to the overwhelming pressure, the concert organizers released an official statement confirming the removal of Stonebwoy from the lineup. The statement acknowledged the concerns of the party’s grassroots supporters as the main reason for the decision, adding that they valued the input of their base in shaping the celebration.

The organizers extended an apology to Stonebwoy and his team for the decision, emphasizing that it was not a reflection of his talent or contribution to Ghanaian music but rather an effort to align the event with the expectations of party supporters.

Despite the controversy, the NDC Victory Concert will proceed as planned at the forecourt of the Legon Stadium. The event aims to commemorate the party’s historic electoral win and will feature performances from other top Ghanaian artistes.

Stonebwoy has yet to officially comment on the situation, but his removal has sparked broader discussions about the intersection of politics and entertainment in Ghana.
