Ghanaian gospel musician Mavis Asante has shared some tips for married couples seeking to maintain a peaceful and lasting marriage.

In an interview with Hitz FM on October 31, 2024, she advised couples to respect each other’s privacy, especially regarding personal devices like phones.

She emphasised the importance of avoiding the temptation to go through a partner’s phone for the sake of both peace of mind and marital stability.

“If you can stay away from your partner’s phone, it will benefit you—for your own peace and sanity, allowing you to live longer and be happier. You might misinterpret what you find; things may not be as they seem, and you could end up misunderstanding the whole situation,” she explained.

Mavis also discussed the essence of trust and respect in marriage.

She said although she knows her husband’s Mobile Money PIN, she usually seeks his consent before using any funds.

“I’ll never take anything from his wallet without his consent. Even if I want to take 10 cedis credit, I’ll let him know that I’m taking 10 cedis. So there is that transparency and that respect between us. That is what I think it’s keeping us going,” she said.

Reflecting on her marriage, Mavis Asante encouraged couples to discover what works best for their unique situations.
