The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has scrapped a proposed $10,000 winning bonus package for the Black Stars management team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.

The cancellation was announced during a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, where the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, outlined details of the government’s approved budget for the two fixtures.

According to the Minister, while players and technical staff will still receive their agreed bonuses, the package for team officials has been removed entirely.

The move forms part of a wider cost-cutting exercise that saw the Ministry reduce the Ghana Football Association’s total request of $2 million to $1.3 million.

Out of this, $841,290 has been allocated for the Chad fixture in N’Djamena, while $463,600 will cover the home match against Mali in Accra.

Ghana sits at the top of Group I with 15 points and is looking to maintain its lead in pursuit of a fifth World Cup appearance.

After the Chad game, Ghana will face Mali in Accra on September 8, 2025, before wrapping up their qualifying campaign in October against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
