Ghana’s Sports Ministry has approved a budget of $1,120,000 to support the Black Stars in Matchdays 9 and 10 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The announcement comes as Ghana sit top of Group I with 19 points after eight games, ahead of crucial fixtures away to the Central African Republic and at home against Comoros in October.

Kofi Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, confirmed that the budget figures submitted by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) fell within acceptable limits.

“The FA submitted a budget within an acceptable range, and the Ministry did not need to add any comments,” he said.

South Africa deducted three points in 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Adams also revealed a slight adjustment compared to the previous allocation, particularly in relation to imprest funds.

“Imprest is now $10,000 lower than the approved $20,000 the last time,” he explained.

This new allocation follows earlier controversies when the Ministry sharply reduced budgets for the qualifiers against Chad and Mali.

The GFA had initially requested over $2 million, but the Ministry cut the figure to $1.3 million for both matches combined, allocating $841,290 for the Chad fixture and $463,600 for the Mali game.

During those cuts, bonus payments, transport costs, and administrative expenses were scaled back or eliminated to meet fiscal constraints.
