The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Addams, along with the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, conducted an inspection of the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday morning.

The visit was ahead of the Black Stars’ crucial Matchday five fixture against Chad, who currently sit at the bottom of Group I.

During the inspection, it was discovered that the stadium’s floodlights were non-functional and in a deteriorating state.

Urgent repairs have been ordered, with a 48-hour deadline to ensure they are fixed before the national team regroups on Monday for their mandatory first training session.

Additionally, other safety concerns must be addressed to meet the standards set by CAF and FIFA.

Presidential Staffer Stan Dogbe, who was part of the inspection team, received a comprehensive report on the stadium’s poor condition.

In response, the Sports Minister has directed the NSA to ensure all emergency repairs are completed within the stipulated timeframe.

The 23 players called up for the upcoming matches are expected to arrive in Accra on Monday, March 17. The team will train from Monday through Thursday before facing Chad on Friday, March 21.

Following this fixture, the Black Stars will travel to Morocco for their Matchday six encounter against Madagascar. The game is scheduled for Monday, March 24, at the Stade Mimoun Al Arsi.
