Kofi Adams (L) with Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah (R) Kofi Adams (L) with Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah (R)

The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has debunked a publication by myjoyonline on February 23, 2026, citing him as having ordered the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, to revoke the appointment of 17 staff members, describing it as untrue.

The story purported that the COO has until Thursday, February 26, to exit his office together with the other 16 on the list and further lamenting several transfers that were supposedly undue.

This publication follows an earlier one by the same portal headlined ‘CHAOS AT THE NSA” a fortnight ago, where it was reported that the new NSA Board had asked Yaw Ampofo Ankrah to cancel the appointments of these particular 17 persons after it emerged that the recruits were employed without the required clearance.

The story further implied that Ankrah had been reluctant to the demand of the board, hence prompting the latest intervention from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation

However, in seeking clarification of the true situation from the Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams on the alleged order, the minister completely debunked the publication, describing it as an untrue reflection.

“This is not a true reflection of the situation. I asked the NSA to submit to me full emoluments for the 17 persons based on dates of employment for each, and the 17 must be placed within the existing NSA structure when clearance is secured”, he said.

He further maintained that aside the employee data submission, he also requested that a gap analysis must be done of the existing structure, so that any need for change is submitted to the board for approval.

Myjoyonline has since deleted the headline after the revelation of the true situation by the Sports Minister.
