Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams has confirmed that Ghana will broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup live after successful government support and fundraising efforts secured the television rights for the tournament.
The Member of Parliament of Buem constituency made the announcement during the presentation of a GH¢5 million donation by GCB Bank to the Black Stars ahead of the global competition.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, he expressed gratitude to institutions and individuals who have supported preparations for the World Cup from the beginning.
“Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” Kofi Adams said.
The Black Stars are currently intensifying preparations for the tournament under new head coach Carlos Queiroz. Ghana will first face Mexico on May 22 before taking on Wales in another preparatory friendly in early June, with the final World Cup squad expected to be announced before the Wales encounter.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama. The Black Stars will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England and Croatia in the remaining group-stage matches.
