Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Hon. Kofi Adams, has officially inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 15th Africa Armwrestling Championship, dubbed “Accra 2026,” at the Ministry’s conference room.
During the ceremony, he emphasized the importance of the committee’s role and tasked them with ensuring the successful hosting of the event.
He further reflected on the growth of arm wrestling in Ghana.
President of the Ghana Arm Wrestling Federation, Charles Osei Asibey expressed confidence in Accra’s ability to host a world-class event. “We aim to showcase Africa’s talent and hospitality,” he stated.
Mrs. Maame Afua Houageto, the newly appointed Chairperson and representative of the Ghana Tourism Authority, shared her enthusiasm. “We are honored to be entrusted with this responsibility,” she said.
The seven-member committee includes:

-Miss Jessica Kwarteng (Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Protocol Officer)
-Mr. Andre Ackah (Advertisers Association of Ghana)
This team is set to work diligently to ensure the success of Africa’s premier arm-wrestling event in Accra in 2026.
