Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has pledged two months of his salary to the Ghana Sports Fund as efforts to revitalize sports financing gathered pace in Parliament.

Addressing the House on Thursday, the Minister stressed that a structured and well-resourced fund could significantly enhance the sector’s contribution to Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product. He commended the National Investment Bank for setting the tone with a donation of GH¢100,000, describing it as a timely intervention.

Adams announced that his two-month salary donation would take effect from February 2026, arguing that leadership must demonstrate commitment if the private sector, sports federations and athletes are expected to follow suit.

Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga subsequently revealed that members of the Majority Front Bench and some ministers would each contribute one month of their salaries to the fund. The Majority Chief Whip also pledged three months’ salary.

The commitments are expected to encourage broader corporate and public support toward strengthening Ghana’s sports development agenda.
