Russian Premier League giants Spartak Moscow have made a formal approach to sign Ghana international Alexander Djiku from Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahçe, according to reports from Turkish outlet Sabah Spor.

The 31-year-old centre-back, who joined Fenerbahçe from French Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg in 2023, is attracting significant interest this summer.

In addition to Spartak, French clubs Lille, Nice and Toulouse are also monitoring his situation. However, Spartak are believed to be the first to table an official offer, reportedly in the region of €5 million.

Djiku, known for his aggressive defending and strong leadership at the back, featured in 38 matches for Fenerbahçe during the 2024–25 season.

Despite his consistent performances, it is understood that new Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho does not see him as part of his long-term plans, paving the way for a potential exit before the transfer window closes next month.

With 33 caps and 2 goals for the Ghana national team, Djiku’s experience could prove invaluable for Spartak, who are seeking to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of a challenging season.

A move to Russia would mark his first venture into Eastern European football and a fresh chapter in his career.

If the deal materialises, Djiku will join a growing list of Ghanaian players plying their trade in diverse European leagues, continuing his reputation as one of the Black Stars’ most reliable defenders.
