South Korea striker, Hwang Hee-chan has sent a strong message to Ghana ahead of Kirin Cup clash, insisting the Taegeuk Warriors are desperate to end the year on a positive note after recent setbacks.

The Wolves forward, speaking exclusively to telecomasia, admitted that it has been a difficult period for both club and country, but says Korea will approach the match against Ghana with full focus.

The 29-year-old made it clear that the Black Stars will not be taken lightly.

“Ghana is a very strong team and, like I said, I know a few of their players – but for us, this is an important match,” Hwang said.

South Korea suffered defeat in their last home match against Brazil and view the Kirin Cup as an opportunity to restore confidence.

“The last time we played at home it was against Brazil and we lost, so now is the time to make a good result and put in a strong performance,” he added.

The Black Stars lost 2-0 to Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025, in another high-profile friendly and will be aiming to build momentum and assess new options within the squad.

But Hwang’s comments suggest South Korea will come with a point to prove, setting the stage for a highly competitive fixture if the two nations meet.

“It’s very important for us this is our last game of the year, so we want to finish well,” Hwang noted.
