South Africa’s Bafana Bafana claimed a narrow 1–0 victory over the Black Galaxies in an international friendly played on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

After a cagey first half that saw both teams probing without finding a breakthrough, the hosts struck in the 57th minute through Sipho Mbule.

The midfielder capitalised on space at the edge of the box and calmly finished to give South Africa the lead, sparking celebrations among the home supporters.

The Black Galaxies responded positively after going behind and pushed for an equaliser, growing in confidence as the match wore on. Their clearest opportunity fell to Rudolf Mensah, whose well‑struck effort beat the goalkeeper but crashed against the post, denying Ghana a deserved leveller.

Despite sustained pressure in the latter stages, the Galaxies were unable to find a way past a disciplined South African defence. Bafana Bafana, meanwhile, managed the game well, limiting clear chances and seeing out the contest.

The friendly provided valuable minutes for both sides, with Ghana continuing preparations for the upcoming CHAN qualifiers, while South Africa used the match to fine‑tune their squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
