Seventeen-year-old Samuel Adjei, son of Ghanaian film star Portia Asare, has challenged Asante Kotoko ahead of Heart of Lions’ crunch Premier League fixture this weekend.
The youngster, who is still waiting for his first top-flight appearance, trained with the Lions in the build-up to the October 5, 2025, showdown at the Baba Yara Stadium and did not mince words when asked about the tie.
“Asante Kotoko is like the face of the Ghana Premier League, and everyone wants to watch them when they are playing. But Heart of Lions is going to get the win on Sunday,” Adjei told sports journalist Mohammed Shaban.
It is a bold statement from a player yet to feature in the opening three games of the season. Still, Adjei’s self-belief mirrors the confidence within Bashir Hayford’s squad.

Heart of Lions have started the campaign with three wins out of three games and are on top of the Ghana Premier League table. They are determined to extend their unbeaten run against Kotoko since returning to the elite division three years ago.
Adjei, who balances his senior high school studies with football, embodies the new wave of youthful promise emerging at Kpando.
The challenge, however, could not be greater. Kotoko are going into the game after a historic win at Golden City Park, their first away success against Berekum Chelsea in 15 years, and back-to-back CAF Confederation Cup victories over Kwara United.
With 10 wins in their last 11 home matches, the Porcupine Warriors are in blistering form.
