The tragic story of 16-year-old footballer Ransford Owusu Ansah, who was allegedly sexually abused by his coach Ibrahim Anyass at Siano Football Academy in Amasaman, has triggered a massive wave of outrage online.
The hashtag #JusticeForRansford has dominated social media trends in Ghana, with thousands of users expressing anger, heartbreak, and disbelief over the details emerging from the case.
Ransford’s ordeal reportedly began at the academy, where he was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual abuse by his coach.
His health deteriorated over time, and according to his mother, he became withdrawn and sickly before finally revealing the abuse. He was later hospitalised at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and died in March 2025 after slipping into a coma.
Ibrahim Anyass: What we know about the coach linked to Ransford Ansah’s alleged abuse
Despite the seriousness of the allegations, reports indicate that Coach Anyass remained free and continued working with children at the academy for months after Ransford’s death.
That revelation has fueled the anger online, with many questioning why authorities failed to act sooner.
The outrage intensified after a petition was launched calling for Anyass’ arrest and the revocation of his coaching licences. The petition has since gathered over 1,400 signatures, amplifying public calls for justice.
Across X, Facebook, and Instagram, users have been demanding accountability from the Ghana Police Service and football authorities.

We’ve still not heard from our leaders so let’s oust them until they hear our voices

A child’s life stolen and justice delayed is a failure of society.
Accountability cannot wait for public outrage,
Predators must be punished swiftly, and systems that protect them must be dismantled.
Every day without action is a crime against humanity.
