US-based Ghanaian artiste Skrewfaze has criticised the government for its failure to adequately invest in the country’s music industry.

According to him, the government’s laid-back attitude toward investing and implementing effective policies for the industry has been detrimental to its growth.

“In Ghana, the government always claims it will invest in the industry, but they never follow through. If you don’t invest, how can you expect the industry to grow?” he stated on Cape Coast’s Property FM.

He added, “The system in Ghana isn’t functioning because we lack a proper system to collect royalties for musicians, which is essential for building our industry.”

He acknowledged some of his colleagues, including Shatta Wale, who have consistently spoken out about the challenges facing the industry.

“Ghana doesn’t have a music industry, and Shatta Wale has been vocal about it, but I know some people will say I didn’t support him when he raised this concern.

“We approach issues differently; we don’t need to shout to be heard, but there is truth in what Shatta Wale says,” he told Amansan Krakye.
