Sister Derby, a singer and socialite from Ghana, has talked candidly about the difficulties she had finding work after completing her master’s degree in the UK. The “Kakalila Love” singer said in an interview on 3 Music TV that it was hard to find work after losing her £700 internship.

She disclosed that after submitting multiple applications, she was unable to obtain employment. “I applied to a lot of jobs, but I was unable to get any. According to one of my instructors, they are hiring citizens before those from other countries because of the UK’s recession.

I attended numerous job interviews at major publishing houses, but I never got a call. I registered with numerous employment agencies, but I never received a call, so I made the decision to return to Ghana,” she stated.

According to Sister Derby, she was eventually assisted by a fellow Nigerian to land a sales position at one of the largest pharmacies in the UK; nevertheless, she felt that the position was beyond her level as a Master’s graduate and ultimately resigned. She finally decided to go back to Ghana at this moment.

“I think I was on the last Ghana Airwaves flight somewhere in January 2010 when I made the decision to come back to Ghana and look for a job here,” she revealed.
