    Manchester United legend, David Beckham has been knighted for his outstanding contributions to sports and his impact on British society.

    The former Real Madrid star was named in King Charles’ Birthday Honours list, released earlier in 2025, and was officially knighted by the King during a ceremony on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the Windsor Castle.

    Beckham will now be officially referred to as Sir David Beckham in recognition of the honour.

    Speaking after the ceremony, Beckham thanked the royal family for bestowing such a prestigious honour upon him for his service to the nation.

    “I couldn’t be prouder. People know how patriotic I am, I love my country. I’ve always said how important the monarchy is to my family. I’m lucky enough to have travelled around the world, and all people want to talk to me about is our monarchy. It makes me proud,” he said, as reported by the BBC.

    Beckham made 115 appearances for his country and captained the Three Lions for six years between 2000 and 2006.

    The former Manchester United winger featured in three World Cups for England, as well as two European Championships.
