Dominic Oduro Osei, lawyer for the Family Head of Daddy Lumba’s family, Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu, has urged Ghanaians to turn out in large numbers for the funeral of the legendary highlife musician on Saturday, December 13, following a court ruling that has cleared the way for the burial.

Speaking to the media after proceedings on Friday, December 12,2025, the lawyer encouraged fans, relatives, and the general public to honour the late musician, stressing that the funeral would proceed despite unresolved family disagreements.

“Tomorrow is an opportunity for everyone to pay their last respects. If your love for Daddy Lumba is greater than the court judgment, then show up tomorrow. If you are truly a fan, be there. If you do not come, it means the pain in your heart is greater than the love you have for him.

“The funeral is still on; nothing will stop it from happening. Everyone, including Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu and his family, should come and honour him,” he said.

The burial is moving forward after the applicants in the family dispute were unable to provide the GH₵2 million required by the Accra High Court, a condition necessary for the release of the late musician’s body.

Lawyers for Transitions Funeral Home indicated that they are awaiting the certified court order to finalise arrangements.

This latest order follows an earlier injunction that temporarily barred the family head from organising the funeral and prevented the funeral home from releasing the body.

Lawyers for the applicants argued that the GH₵2 million requirement was “practically impossible,” insisting the court lacked the authority to vary its initial orders without notice.

They suggested signing an undertaking to pay the amount later, cautioning that the sudden change could mislead the public.
