Medikal came to the defence of Apostle Lamptey
Popular Ghanaian rapper, Medikal, has come to the defence of the Lead Pastor of Believers House of Worship, Apostle Abraham Lamptey, after he was seen dancing to the artiste’s hit song, “Shoulder.”
Apostle Lamptey, who went viral after he was spotted on video attempting the ‘Shoulder’ dance challenge, came under scrutiny for engaging with a secular song.

One such critic was the Pastor of The Apostolic Recovery Movement, Apostle Paul, who accused him of “confusing the youth” by promoting worldly songs.
However, Medikal, reacting to the criticism on X, on November 6, 2025, defended Apostle Lamptey and his song, declaring it a “gospel song.”
According to him, “Shoulder spreads love and unity,” and Apostle Lamptey’s happiness is not an attempt to spread confusion.
“How can someone’s happiness mislead and confuse the youth? Free Apostle Lamptey. Shoulder is a gospel song, it spreads love, happiness, and unity,” he posted.
‘Shoulder’ by Medikal, featuring Shatta Wale, is the latest song to be the topic of religious debates over its use in Christian settings.
In 2024, several clergymen came under fire for singing and dancing to ‘Aseda’ and ‘Makoma’ by King Paluta.
A Catholic priest, Father Peter Kusi Twumasi, was forced to apologise for singing ‘Aseda’ during a church service.
The incident gained public attention, and the priest issued a formal apology for performing a secular song within a liturgical setting.
