Footage has captured the wild moment several teenage girls appeared to engage in an all-out brawl as others watched on, prompting a shocked parent to speak out.
The incident occurred shortly before 2pm on Sunday at the corner of Scott Street and Pacific Street in Newcastle, NSW Police told the Daily Mail.
Video obtained by 2GB showed a teenage girl in a black top walking quickly along Scott Street before suddenly moving towards another girl outside a cafe with a blue towel wrapped around her waist.
Video showed she then pulled the towel-wearing teenager towards her and appeared to hit her across the face multiple times before she pushed her into the cafe window.
The pair continued trading punches before several other girls joined the melee, while a growing crowd of onlookers gathered.
About 37 seconds after the first punch was landed, the intensity of the fight began to subside as someone in the crowd finally shouted, ‘Oi, that’s enough! Cut it out!’
‘Stop, stop, stop,’ another could be heard saying, before the teenager picked up the towel she dropped during the fight and was escorted away, but not before a girl who had joined the brawl midway yanked her hair.
Jessica, the mother of one of the teens who tried to defend her friend, told 2GB she thought the altercation was ‘absolutely horrific’.

She said it was fortunate the fight was not worse.
‘My daughter is physically okay, but emotionally the impacts are going to last for a long time,’ she said.
‘Chunks of her hair were pulled out, right down to her bare skin.’
Jessica said that one of the most worrying aspects was that it wasn’t a one-off.
‘It’s absolutely horrific to know that it wasn’t just an isolated attack – its something that happens all the time and was pre-planned. These girls were looking for my daughters friend to attack her.’
The girls who were attacked called their parents, and police were also called.
Jessica claimed that an officer at the scene explained to her that ‘because of the age of these young girls, chances are nothing is going to happen to them’.
‘Violence against children has become other children’s entertainment, and something needs to change,’ she said.
Police said the investigation remained ongoing and officers had spoken with several teenagers at the scene.
There were no reports of any serious injuries, it added.
