British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua’s fatal accident in Nigeria has resurfaced with new revelations uncovered during investigations.
The driver’s lawyer Olalekan Abiodun disclosed that the World Champion was seated in the front of his SUV while traveling in Nigeria.
But the report indicated that during the journey, Joshua switched seats to sit at the back of the vehicle moments before the crash occurred, which killed his two close friends.

In an interview with Daily Mail, Olalekan Abiodun said, “My client has pleaded not guilty and what happened was an accident, I haven’t had a full chance to speak with him yet but I know he is saying the brakes did not work. I also understand that the journey started in Lagos and that initially Anthony had got into the front seat but the driver asked him to swap seats. From what I understand Latif was in front and then changed seats with Anthony.”
It was further revealed that the driver of the SUV involved in the accident, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, did not have a valid driving license at the time of the fatal collision.
This update emerged during a hearing for the 47‑year‑old driver at Sagamu High Court, where he denied all charges against him, including dangerous driving.
Kayode insisted that the accident was not his fault, blaming it on failed brakes that caused him to lose control and made it impossible to prevent the crash.
Kayode has worked for Anthony Joshua for more than three years as a driver. He was granted bail after the hearing, as investigations continue.
It is worth noting that Anthony Joshua has also been released from the hospital to continue his recovery at home as he prepares to bury his two friends who died in the crash.
The fatal accident occurred on a busy highway in Makun, just hours after Joshua and his associates had reportedly spent time playing tennis together.
Reports indicate that the vehicle he was traveling in collided with a stationary truck, an incident that tragically claimed the lives of two people. Joshua reportedly sustained minor injuries.
Joshua’s two friends, Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, were confirmed dead after succumbing to injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
