Greens leader Adam Bandt is at risk of losing his seat of Melbourne, with a sizable swing to Labor wiping out his support.

As of 11pm Saturday AEST, Labor’s Sarah Witty is ahead with 51 per cent of the vote compared to Bandt at 49 per cent, based on preference estimates.

This represents a 7.4 per cent swing to Labor in the seat that Bandt has held since the 2010 election.

If Bandt does lose, the Greens could be thrown into chaos without their leader in Parliament.

Bandt is ahead in primary votes at 42.3 per cent, compared to Ms Witty at 31.4 per cent.

Liberal Party candidate Steph Hunt has 17.5 per cent, while ex-AFL star Independent Anthony Koutoufides has 3.2 per cent, and One Nation’s Melanie Casey has picked up 2.1 per cent of the vote.

The count continues and no winner has been projected.
