A Bundaberg mother accused of murdering her three-year-old daughter has been found unresponsive in her jail cell.
Mother-of-three Lauren Ingrid Flanigan, 32, was arrested on Tuesday and charged her with murdering her daughter Sophia.
Queensland Police issued a statement on Saturday.
‘Detectives from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit are investigating after a 32-year-old woman was located unresponsive while in custody at the Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre on Friday, May 30,’ it said.
‘There is no further information available at this time.’
It comes just days after emergency services rushed to Moore Park Beach, on the outskirts of Bundaberg in central Queensland, about 4.45pm on Monday following ‘multiple’ reports from concerned neighbours.
Three-year-old Sophia was found unresponsive with ‘multiple wounds’ at the Regency Road home and declared dead at the scene, police said.
Acting Superintendent Brad Inskip said a bladed weapon was also allegedly found.
