In a post on social media, the Ghanaian dancehall artiste stated that SHAXI, his ride-hailing service, is poised to become Kumasi’s number one transport app. He added that 20 percent of the company’s proceeds in the region would be donated to the Manhyia Palace to support schools and hospitals.
“SMALL TIME SHAXI WILL BE KUMASI’s NUMBER 1 RIDE HAILING APP AND I WILL GIVE 20% OF OUR PROCEEDS TO THE MANHYIA PALACE TO CATER FOR SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS IN THE REGION. THE LOVE IS TOO MUCH, THE SUPPORT IS TOO MUCH. THANK YOU OTUMFUO OSEI TUTU II.. I BOW MY KING,” Shatta Wale wrote.
His announcement comes at a moment when Kumasi has shown him immense support, with his recent appearance at Sarkodie’s Rapperholic event drawing an outpouring of excitement from fans. Shatta Wale’s public acknowledgement of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II further highlighted his intention to align the initiative with the traditional leadership of the Ashanti Kingdom.
SHAXI, launched in 2021 as a Ghanaian-owned alternative to global ride-hailing companies, has been positioned by Shatta Wale as a platform to create jobs for Ghanaian youth while promoting community development.
