Ghanaian music superstar Shatta Wale has been confirmed as the headline performer for the 2025 GHALCA President’s Cup, set to take place on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The event promises a thrilling blend of sports and entertainment, featuring the classic football rivalry between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, alongside a live performance by one of Africa’s biggest dancehall artists.

Now in its 17th edition, the President’s Cup is an annual football match organized by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to honor the sitting President of Ghana—currently John Dramani Mahama. This year’s match is particularly notable, as President Mahama is expected to attend and personally present the trophy to the winning team, adding a layer of national prestige to the occasion.

The football fixture, known as the “Super Clash,” pits Ghana’s two most successful clubs, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, against each other in what is always a fiercely contested and highly anticipated showdown.

Kotoko comes into the match with momentum, having recently secured their 10th MTN FA Cup title, while Hearts of Oak are preparing to unveil a new technical team led by coach Didi Dramani, as they aim to reclaim glory in front of their home fans.

In a move to make the event accessible to all football lovers, GHALCA has announced free entry to the stadium, encouraging maximum attendance and community participation.

Fans will not only witness top-tier football but also enjoy Shatta Wale’s electrifying halftime and post-match performances, which are expected to elevate the atmosphere and celebrate Ghanaian music and culture alongside sport.

Shatta Wale’s inclusion as the headline act reinforces the President’s Cup as more than just a football match—it is a festival of Ghanaian unity, passion, and entertainment.

With thousands expected in the stands and millions watching nationwide, the 2025 President’s Cup is set to be a memorable celebration of Ghana’s sporting and cultural heritage.
