The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has disclosed details about the ongoing investigation involving Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and a yellow Lamborghini Urus found at his residence, believed to be linked to fraud.

Shatta Wale was detained by EOCO on August 20, 2025, as part of a probe into the luxury car, which authorities say is connected to convicted Ghanaian-American fraudster Nana Kwabena Amuah.

Amuah is currently serving a prison sentence in the United States for orchestrating multi-million-dollar romance and business email compromise schemes.

However, in an update on developments since Shatta Wale’s detention, EOCO has stated in a press release that he has so far been unable to prove ownership of the vehicle.

According to the statement, Shatta allegedly told investigators that he bought the Lamborghini “from the street” but could not identify the seller.

“So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah has been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the said Lamborghini Urus vehicle except to say that he purchased it from the ‘Street’ and from someone possibly called ‘ZAK’ who may have contacted him on WhatsApp but whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away,” the statement read.

EOCO added that the musician has no receipts or legal documents showing a transfer of ownership, apart from a customs declaration form.

The document in his possession, however, bears the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, the convicted fraudster linked to the car.

“So far, Charles Nii Armah Mensah does not also possess any documentation in terms of receipt or transfer documents which shows that he owns or purchased the said vehicle except a custom declaration document in his possession bearing the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah who is currently in jail,” EOCO stated.

The agency also confirmed that Shatta Wale was granted bail after his interrogation on the evening of August 20.

His bail conditions were set at GH₵10 million with two sureties to be justified.

“Nii Armah was granted bail around 9pm shortly after interrogation ended. He was granted bail of GHC10,000,000 with two sureties to be justified. Once the sureties are presented hopefully this morning, EOCO will undertake surety inspection, which is a standard protocol, after which Charles Nii Armah Mensah would leave custody,” EOCO said.
