Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale has lauded rapper Medikal for his strategic approach to the music industry, emphasizing that his continued success is rooted in understanding the business side of rap.

Speaking in a recent interview with US-based Ghanaian blogger Firestick, Shatta Wale didn’t hold back his admiration for Medikal, who he says has mastered the balance between lyrical craft and commercial viability.

“I like rap music so much, but I love rappers who understand the commercial aspect of rap—and that’s what Medikal does,” Shatta Wale said.

The ‘On God’ hitmaker highlighted that while many rappers focus solely on lyricism, Medikal has managed to monetize his brand, keeping him relevant and dominant in Ghana’s music scene.

This isn’t the first time Shatta Wale has endorsed Medikal. The two have developed a close friendship in recent years, often collaborating on projects and performing together.

Their chemistry has become a staple in the Ghanaian music industry, with fans praising their mutual respect and support.

Shatta Wale’s comments come amid ongoing conversations about sustainability in Ghana’s rap industry, where many talented artists struggle to maintain momentum due to a lack of business insight.
