Outspoken sports journalist, Bright Kankam Boadu, has chastised the head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, over his inability to qualify Ghana for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

He fumed over why Otto Addo defended the team’s poor performance in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers without showing any sense of remorse during his encounter with the media.

The Pure FM sports journalist further chided persons who are calling for Addo to be retained as Black Stars coach despite the abysmal performance of the team.

“You don’t defend this nonsense, shambolic performance, and you call yourself a Ghanaian? You are not. You eat from somebody’s pocket; that is why you are behaving so. As journalists, we work to be paid, but tell us the truth.

“You [Otto Addo] are telling us it is not a problem because we did not qualify in 2004. Even some journalists are calling for him to be maintained because he qualified us for the World Cup. If he had played the group stage matches, we wouldn’t have qualified to that stage,” he said in Twi while speaking on Pure FM.

The Black Stars, under coach Otto Addo, failed to qualify for the tournament. After six matches, Ghana were left at the bottom of Group F with just three points, recording three losses and three draws.

In Group F, Angola and Sudan qualified, while Ghana and Niger failed to qualify.

It is the first time in 20 years that Ghana has failed to qualify for the AFCON.
