Olympic gold medalist, Sha’Carri Richardson has broken her silence following a heated public altercation with her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The incident occurred on July 27, 2025, and was captured on surveillance footage later reviewed by police.
The video showed Richardson shoving Coleman multiple times, grabbing his backpack, and appearing to throw an object at him during a dispute near a TSA checkpoint.
Despite Coleman’s attempts to walk away and de-escalate the situation, the confrontation escalated, resulting in Richardson’s arrest on a charge of fourth-degree domestic violence assault.
Commenting on her arrest for the first time in a social media post, the Olympic gold and silver medallist said: “I’m not perfect, and I take full responsibility for my actions. I’m working on myself and will be getting help to handle my emotions better.”

Coleman supported her, calling her a “great person” and “the best female athlete in the world.”
“She has things she needs to work on for herself, of course. So do I, so do you” he stated while urging compassion.
The couple, who went public with their relationship in February 2025, continues to navigate the fallout as Richardson prepares for the World Championships in Tokyo.
🗣️ “She’s a human being, and a great person… She has a lot of things going on, a lot of emotions and forces going on inside of her that not only I can’t understand, but nobody can. She’s one of one. And I’m one of one too.”
