A licensed Ghanaian fitness and conditioning coach, Francis Totti Laryea has shared insights into the impact of sexual activity on footballers’ performance.
Speaking in an interview on Linus Nartey TV, Laryea, who is the CEO of Train Like a Pro GH’ stated that sexual activity can be beneficial to footballers, particularly during the off-season, as it helps improve overall fitness and relaxation.
However, he cautioned that excessive sexual activity could have negative effects on a player’s performance and contribution on the pitch.
According to the experienced fitness coach, while controlled sexual activity may aid recovery and wellbeing, overindulgence can drain energy levels and affect focus, especially during competitive periods of the season.
“Everyday i say this, sex is very good for players especially during the off season. It is good during the off season but not when you are doing pre-season. If the player is physically fit, then he should be encouraged to have more sex to release energy,” Francis Laryea.
Laryea further warned amateur footballers to be especially careful, stressing that unlike professionals who follow structured fitness and recovery programmes, amateurs may suffer greater performance setbacks if they engage excessively in sexual activity.
He encouraged players to maintain discipline and understand their bodies, emphasising that peak performance requires balance, professionalism and proper lifestyle choices.
