Ghanaian media personality and controversial relationship coach, Counsellor George Lutterodt, has strongly criticized the manner in which the death of highlife legend Daddy Lumba was publicly confirmed.

Speaking in an interview on Power FM, Lutterodt expressed deep disappointment over what he termed a breach of traditional customs and protocol surrounding the announcement of the musician’s passing.

“It was wrong for Serwaa Amihere to go on DL FM to confirm what was trending on social media. That wasn’t her place,” he asserted firmly.

Counsellor Lutterodt emphasized that in matters involving national or cultural figures, it is customary and respectful for such announcements to be made solely by the bereaved family and not media houses or third parties.

He further criticized Daddy Lumba’s lawyer for issuing a public statement confirming the news before the family had officially addressed the public.

“This is not how we handle the passing of a cultural icon like Lumba. The family should have been the first and only voice in this matter,” he added.

The legendary musician, born Charles Kojo Fosu, reportedly passed away on the morning of Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra, after a period of illness.

While tributes continue to pour in from fans and industry colleagues alike, Lutterodt’s comments have sparked debate about the proper handling of such delicate news — especially involving prominent personalities.

As the nation mourns the loss of one of its greatest highlife stars, questions are being raised not only about the legacy Daddy Lumba leaves behind, but also about how respectfully we report the deaths of our cultural heroes.
