Senegalese fans joined the players on the streets of Dakar to celebrate their AFCON triumph Senegalese fans joined the players on the streets of Dakar to celebrate their AFCON triumph

Senegal’s AFCON champions returned to Dakar just after midnight on Monday, January 19, 2026, to a rapturous welcome from fans who refused to let the celebrations wait until morning.

Despite the late hour, streets around the city came alive as supporters sang, waved flags and greeted their heroes with pride and emotion.

The celebrations rolled straight into Tuesday, January 20, 2026, as Dakar remained in party mode. From motorcades to spontaneous street gatherings, the city echoed with chants and drums, reliving the triumph that crowned Senegal kings of Africa once again.

The scenes of joy come after a tense and hard-fought Africa Cup of Nations final played in Rabat, where Senegal edged Morocco 1-0 after extra time to lift the trophy.
