The final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be contested between the continent’s two highest ranked nations, as tournament hosts Morocco and Senegal meet with both hunting down just a second-ever title.

For the third time in the last four editions of AFCON, Senegal will contest the final (W1, L1) looking to replicate their 2021 heroics when they beat Egypt to lift the trophy.

The Lions of Teranga were victorious against the same opponents in this year’s semi-final (1-0), stretching their unbeaten run at these finals (W5, D1).

Pape Thiaw’s men have conceded just twice along the way, and having faced only six shots on target across their three knockout games, a solid rearguard is charging their title hopes.

Morocco have been even tighter, conceding just once en route to the final while keeping four successive clean sheets.

The Atlas Lions’ attack may have let them down in the semi-final against Nigeria, but Walid Regragui’s men held their nerve to beat Nigeria on penalties and reach just a third-ever AFCON final.

It’s their first appearance in the final since 2004, and as Morocco’s only prior triumph in this competition came way back in 1976, they have the chance to make some history on home soil here.
