English-born Ghanaian attacker Antoine Semenyo scored the only goal in Man City’s 0-1 away victory over Leeds United at Elland Road and did a guitar celebration after and has now revealed the reasons behind that.

The forward, who once again completed the full 90 minutes for Manchester City, said the idea came to him in the moment.

“A few friends said I should do something funny, so it’s the first thing that came up in my head,” he explained with a smile after the game. “Nice guitar, good performance, crowd loved it and that’s it.”

His goal—timed perfectly on the stroke of half-time—proved vital in a match where City had to grind. Leeds pressed relentlessly, stretched the giants, and forced them to defend lots of corners in the second half. But Semenyo’s sharp finish ended up separating both sides.

He spoke with clear purpose when asked about the importance of the win in the title chase. “It means everything to close the gap. We just want to win all our games on our side and whatever Arsenal do we’ll have to wait and see. We have to control what we can.”

The strike was his 14th in the league and his sixth in ten matches for the Cityzens, extending a remarkable run that now totals 15 goals and 5 assists across 31 outings.

With form this convincing, his name keeps echoing loudly in discussions about a Black Stars spot at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
