Ghanaian midfielder Antoine Semenyo has explained that the comfort and sense of belonging he feels at Bournemouth played a key role in his decision to extend his contract with the club until 2030.

He noted that the opportunities offered by the Premier League side have greatly satisfied him, and he would not want to risk making a move that could derail his development as a footballer.

In an interview with Sky Sports aired on July 20, 2025, Semenyo expressed delight over his contract extension, despite strong interest from top European clubs.

“I mean, when you go somewhere, you want to feel wanted, and I didn’t feel that elsewhere. So, this was my safe place. I felt wanted, and it’s good to be back. So, yeah, it feels great. I think I just want to be playing,” he said.

The Black Stars midfielder further emphasised his desire to remain injury-free so he can contribute effectively to Bournemouth’s success in the 2025/2026 season.

“I want to be playing injury-free. I think that’s the most important thing for me, and we’ve got a good group here, and we’re wanting to achieve great things this year. So, it’s still the best place to be right now,” he added.

Semenyo was one of Bournemouth’s standout performers in the 2024/2025 Premier League season, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in 35 appearances.

Prior to his contract renewal, the midfielder was linked with moves to Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and other top European clubs.
