Stepping out from the structure of a record label has pushed Ghanaian singer Sefa into a phase she describes as demanding, but necessary for her growth.

Speaking on United Showbiz on March 15, 2026, she reflected on the realities of going solo, noting that the transition has required her to rethink how she handles both the creative and business sides of her career.

Her output since the split has been modest so far. Sefa said she has released just two songs, teaming up with Camidoh and Larruso, as she gradually finds her footing outside the label system. For her, the shift feels deeply personal.

“I’ve released about two songs after I left my record label. One with Camidoh and one with Larruso. I always say that when you leave your label, it’s like moving out of your parents’ house. You wouldn’t get it that easy and you would have to find your feet,” she explained.

She did not pretend the adjustment has been smooth. According to Sefa, the independent route comes with its share of setbacks, but each challenge has also shaped her understanding of the industry and her place in it.

“As time goes on, you will fall and rise again. It’s not easy, but it’s a learning process,” she said.

Amid the uncertainty, she pointed to one constant that has kept her going. Sefa credited the media for standing by her, saying their continued support has helped sustain her visibility and confidence during this rebuilding phase.

“The media have been lovely to me. I’m naturally a friendly person, and I respect everyone equally, whether I’m on a label or not.

“Other people in the media have been so welcoming and understanding to the extent that I wouldn’t know how to thank them. They promote my works so the media have been good,” Sefa stated.
