Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal’s impressive statistics have surpassed those of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the age of 17 in their footballing careers.
The Spanish football star, after making 100 appearances for both club and country, has scored 22 goals and made 33 assists, totalling 55 goal contributions.
There is a vast contrast between Yamal’s records and those of two players who are regarded as among the best of all time, Messi and Ronaldo.
Argentine Lionel Messi, playing for Barcelona at the age of 17, made nine appearances, scoring once and assisting none, totalling a single goal contribution, far from the Spaniard’s performance.
Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, who was playing for Sporting Lisbon at the same age, made 19 appearances, scoring five and assisting four, making up nine goal contributions.
Yamal, at his young age, played a key role in Spain clinching the 2024 European Championship and helping Barcelona win the 2025 Copa del Rey.
He is on the brink of achieving a historic feat as Barcelona competes for a treble, with potential wins in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
The prodigy has been commended by football pundits and legends, including Jamie Carragger, Thierry Henry, Micah Richards, and Rio Ferdinand, among other coaches.
They believe that if the youngster maintains his excellent performances in the years ahead, he could become one of football’s greats by the time he retires from the sport.
