A second British soldier has been killed on operations in Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) confirmed this afternoon.
Officials said the as yet unnamed individual died following a ‘road traffic incident’. They declined to specify the location of the crash.
No details of the unit to which the deceased belonged have emerged so far. Previously the MOD has acknowledged the presence of a small number of selected UK personnel in Ukraine.
Their roles include providing security for British diplomats working there supporting the country’s armed forces.

In December last year a paratrooper, Lance Corporal George Hooley, was killed in Ukraine in mysterious circumstances.
Officials merely confirmed that LCpl Hooley, 28, was ‘testing a new defensive capability away from the front lines’.
This afternoon the MOD said: ‘It is with deep regret that we must announce that a member of the UK Armed Forces died in a road traffic incident in Ukraine on Saturday 12th September.
‘The family have been informed and have requested a period of grace before further details are released. Our thoughts and our sympathies are with the individual’s loved ones at this difficult time.’
