After a cross-country flight, Super Bowl Week has officially begun for the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks as they’ve touched down in the Bay Area.

The Patriots arrived first after taking off from TF Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island this afternoon and landed at San Jose Mineta Airport just before 4:00pm on the West Coast.

New England will be setting up their pre-game camp at Stanford University in Palo Alto before playing in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Head coach Mike Vrabel, star quarterback Drake Maye and the rest of the team all descended down the steps and into the cloudy California afternoon just one week before the biggest game of the year.

Later in the evening, the Seahawks arrived at the same airport off their flight from Washington state.

Quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba and head coach Mike Macdonald all stepped onto the tarmac and into the night before setting up camp at San Jose State University.

Hours later, the Seahawks arrived as well to fully acclimatize themselves before the game

It’s the first time the Patriots are in the Super Bowl since 2019 when they played in Super Bowl LIII. For Seattle, it’s their first appearance in ‘The Big Game’ in over a decade.

In that game in Atlanta, New England defeated the Los Angeles Rams in one of the lowest scoring contests in Super Bowl history.

But, by virtue of their 13-3 win, they moved into a tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most titles by any NFL team in history.

They’ve already extended their record of the most appearances in the Super Bowl by any team in history – with New England gearing up for its 12th title game.

After losing in both Super Bowl XX and Super Bowl XXXI, the Patriots finally captured their first title in Super Bowl XXXVI – marking the beginning of their dynasty.

Titles No. 2 and No. 3 followed shortly after – with the Patriots winning Super Bowl XXXVIII and Super Bowl XXXIX.

They were the first team in the 21st Century to win consecutive Super Bowls and remained the only franchise to do so until the Kansas City Chiefs won titles in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

New England lost Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI – both to the New York Giants – before re-gaining their footing in Super Bowl XLIX over the Seattle Seahawks in one of the greatest Super Bowls ever played.

But their opponents – the Seattle Seahawks – are favored to get revenge for Super Bowl XLIX

They followed that up by completing the largest comeback in Super Bowl history by erasing a 25-point deficit to the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

A loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII was followed up by the aforementioned Super Bowl LIII win over the Rams.

As for Seattle, they are hoping to win their second title in their fourth appearance in the championship game.

The Seahawks lost a controversial game in Super Bowl XL to the Steelers before winning their first title in a demolition of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. The following season resulted in that loss to the Patriots.

But Seattle enters the game as favorites. As of Sunday, betting markets lean to the Seahawks by 4.5 points.

If New England wins, they’ll be the first team to win multiple Super Bowls over more than one franchise – with Seattle (SB XLIX and, hypothetically LX) joining the Rams (SB XXXVI and LIII).
