A 10-year-old girl has suffered potentially life-changing injuries after being attacked by two dogs, police said.

The young child was rushed to hospital at around 3.30pm this afternoon following the incident on Roseneath Road in Bolton.

Local police confirmed on Tuesday evening that she suffered serious injuries, which are ‘believed to be life-threatening’.

A 28-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman have since been arrested on suspicion of possessing a dog dangerously out of control. They are both in custody.

Two dogs have been detained by Greater Manchester Police‘s (GMP_ dog unit, though it is currently unclear whether just one or both of the pets were invovled.

A statement released by Greater Manchester Police read: ‘Shortly before 3.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday, February 4) officers were called to reports of a dog attack on Roseneath Road, Bolton.

‘Emergency services attended and a 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries, believed to be life-changing.

‘Armed Response Vehicles and GMP Dog Unit were deployed, and two dogs have been detained.

‘A 28-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of possessing a dog dangerously out of control, and are currently in custody.

‘Officers will remain in the area as they conduct further enquiries and to provide reassurance to the community.’
