By LUCY MANLY IN SURFERS PARADISE FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA

    Published: 09:58 EST, 16 November 2024 | Updated: 11:52 EST, 16 November 2024

Thousand of teens have swarmed the Gold Coast for the first night of ‘Schoolies Week’ festivities after finishing their final exams.

But while they’ve left school behind for the final time, the same cannot be said for their school uniforms.

Scores of former students were still proudly wearing their one-time school outfits at they hit Surfers Paradise on Saturday night – but only after giving them a decidedly risque makeover ahead of the wild week of partying.

One newly graduate student from Assisi Catholic College in Upper Coomera, Ally Sullivan, joked the provocative nips and tucks she had made to her old uniform would not have gone down well at her school – nor her saviour.

‘Jesus would not approve of what we have done to our uniforms,’ she laughed.

Former classmate Scarlett Tattersall agreed but added: ‘We were good catholic schoolgirls … but schools out, we can do what we want!’

Eva Pendelbuy, who up until about 48 hours ago was a student at Tamborine Mountain State High School, said her former principal would be equally unimpressed – but, of course, that was half the fun.

‘Our teachers would be saying, “Girls pull your skirts down!”‘ she said.

‘It’s a very strict for a public school, [our alterations] would be an immediate expulsion!’

However, not everyone thought they’re ‘sexy’ alterations would offend their former teachers.

A group of recent graduates partying together from Ipswich Girls Grammar School said their former teachers would be proud to see them reclaim their outfits.

‘Our teachers would love what we have done to our uniform- it’s a progressive and accepting school,’ one of the girls said.

‘As long as we’re looking out for one another that’s what’s important.’

The outfits overhauls come days after students from an elite private school in Brisbane sparked outrage by posting sexually suggestive images of themselves during a wild night out on social media.

Students from the exclusive All Hallows’ School in Fortitude Valley in Brisbane attracted unwanted attention behavior at a party on Thursday night.

Videos and images posted online allegedly showed the girls engaging in a range of suggestive acts, including pretending to bite and lick another student’s bottom, while one girl’s underwear was emblazoned with the words ‘Catholic slut!’

Other videos show students in compromising positions on their knees simulating sex acts, which one shocked parent described as ‘promoting promiscuity’ and ‘absolutely degrading’.

The widely circulated clips also capture the students waving alcoholic drinks and near-empty bottles of wine while grinding against one another.

In the videos and images, the students are seen wearing revealing outfits fashioned out of cut-up school uniforms.

Saturday night celebrations kicked on well into the night with teens flocking to the beach for dance party.

Revellers were being told to look out for their friends and to keep safety at the front of their minds as they enter the action-packed event.

Volunteers from the Safer Schoolies initiative and Red Frogs attended check-in and were seen patrolling the most popular areas.

Pop-up tents will be set up each night to provide assistance to any party-goers who might require medical assistance.
