The Registrar of the Scholarship Secretariat, Alexander Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, paid a working visit to Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK).

The purpose of Mr Asafo-Agyei’s visit was to familiarize himself with the challenges confronting Ghanaian students studying abroad and to find practical solutions to address the £39 million legacy debt.

Mr Asafo-Agyei was received by Ghana’s Head of Chancery, Mawutor N.K. Alifo.

During the visit, Mr Asafo-Agyei pledged to ensure that students have the peace of mind to focus on their studies.

He also announced plans to begin engagements with the management of various universities across the UK to resolve outstanding student debt issues.

Additionally, he will hold town hall meetings with Ghanaians studying abroad to convey the government’s firm commitment to clearing debts and providing the necessary financial support to make their academic journey more comfortable.

The Registrar has therefore encouraged all Ghanaian students in the UK to participate actively in the upcoming town hall meetings at their respective universities.
