Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr have rubbished claims that their new signing, Jhon Duran, lives in Qatar due to Saudi Arabia’s marriage laws.

An earlier report claimed that the former Aston Villa striker, following his recent move to Al Nassr, had agreed to live in Qatar with his girlfriend because Saudi laws do not allow unmarried couples to live together.

The report also suggested that the player was set to travel on an 80-minute flight from Qatar to Riyadh daily for training.

Al Nassr, in a post on X, debunked the report, labelling it as “obnoxiously funny fake news!”

“We’ve all heard about what’s called ‘fake news,’ but this is obnoxiously funny fake news! We are happy that our club matters this much.”

The club also clarified that Duran lives in Riyadh, with his house located near the club’s training centre and the stadium.

“Jhon loves Riyadh, and his house is near the club and the stadium. He is our new family member.”

Jhon Duran completed a shocking £71 million move from the Premier League to the Saudi League on the eve of transfer deadline day.
