Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, widely known as Sarkodie, has offered fans a nostalgic glimpse into the creative process behind one of his beloved tracks, revealing that “Goodbye” was penned in a rather unexpected location, his mother’s kitchen in Tema.

The revelation came via an X post on Monday, June 23, 2025, after a fan shared a video featuring the track in the background. Responding to the post, Sarkodie wrote:

“Wrote this particular song in my mums kitchen (Tema),” sparking renewed appreciation for the track and a wave of nostalgia among fans.

Originally released as a single from his acclaimed 2012 Rapperholic album, “Goodbye” features vocals from Mugeez and was produced by Kill Beatz. Its heartfelt lyrics and smooth production made it a standout on the album and a favourite among listeners.

Sarkodie’s offhand comment has reignited interest in both the song and the Rapperholic era, reminding fans of the humble origins behind some of Ghana’s most iconic hip-hop anthems.
