Ghana’s rising boxing stars will headline an action-packed Independence Day card in Accra as Samuel Takyi and Musah Rahman Lawson return to the ring on March 6.

The “Freedom and Justice Night,” promoted by Sports, Education and Management Promotions, will take place at the Cathedral Clinic off High Street.

Takyi, 25, enters the lightweight eight-round co-headliner unbeaten in eight professional bouts, all won by stoppage. The Olympic bronze medalist stopped Isaac Dowuona in the second round last December and will aim to extend his run to nine straight knockouts against experienced Togolese fighter Fatiou Sarouna.

Lawson, a former national amateur captain and Ghana Prisons officer, faces Somabe Sylvester Simplice of Togo in a super welterweight eight-round contest. The 32-year-old Ghanaian champion is seeking to reignite his world title ambitions in his first outing since September.

Also on the bill, Isaac “Jungle King” Commey meets Godwin Cudjoe in another super welterweight clash, while Joseph “Junior Bazooka” Antwi battles Felix Mankattah in a heavyweight contest.

Several juvenile exhibition bouts featuring John Zile, Daniel Otoo and Moses Adjei Selvi are also scheduled as part of the Independence Day showcase.
